WABI

Wabi /ˈwäbē/ (in Japanese art) is a quality of austere and serene beauty expressing a mood of
spiritual solitude recognized in Zen Buddhist philosophy.

Developed during the months of quarantine, this collection was inspired by the serenity of Karesansui or more commonly known as Japanese zen gardens.  Through many exercises of playing with kids size rake and a bag of sand, patterns were created, which eventually have been abstracted into various compositions.
Each composition is CNC-routed in MDF boards with various geometric solids that create focal points, similarly to the rocks that are carefully placed in a traditional Japanese rock garden. These rocks represent mountains while the patterns and ripples created by raked gravel or sand represent the water/ sea.
I hope these wall art pieces bring some sense of serenity and beauty to your homes.
